For the past four years, CL161 has set the standard for CLEARFIELD technology with the highest Newpath tolerance on the market and excellent yield potential. An early-maturing, short-stature, long-grain variety, it closely resembles Cypress in appearance, performance and maturity. Milling and grain quality are excellent. Evaluations indicate high susceptibility to sheath blight as well as susceptibility to blast. CL161 has good adaptability across the entire southern rice growing area with excellent second-crop potential.

Developed by the University of Arkansas, Division of Agriculture, CL171-AR has Wells and CL161 in its parentage and is the first Arkansas-developed CLEARFIELD release. CL171-AR has excellent Newpath tolerance and closely resembles CL161 in height, maturity and yield. Evaluations indicate high susceptibility to sheath blight, and moderate resistant to blast. CL171-AR has good straw strength and excellent second-crop potential.
