The new CLEARFIELD® rice variety CL151 was showcased at Horizon Ag's 2008 Field Day held in conjunction with Cullum Seed Company in Hickory Ridge, AR. Field plots of all Horizon Ag CLEARFIELD varieties were available for viewing along with test plots treated with Dupont’s new insecticide Dermacor™ X-100.

Lance Schmidt of Horizon Ag organized the field day, which drew a large turnout of growers, consultants and rice seed retailers. The event was planned to introduce CL151 and to update local growers on Horizon's product line for the 2009 season.

"CL151 has really good yield potential and looks really great in the field. We want farmers to see it before we release it commercially next year," he said. "This variety has yield potential as high as any variety available, even hybrids, but with much greater attributes such as resistance to shattering and lodging. Milling and quality is also excellent and growers should benefit from these characteristics."
